This guide walks you through downloading, installing, and using the Lorex Cloud Client on your Windows or Mac desktop to access and manage your DVR security camera system.
Step 1: Download the Lorex Cloud Client
Use the direct download links below to get the correct version of the Lorex Cloud desktop software for your operating system:
- For Windows: Download Lorex Cloud Client for Windows
- For Mac: Download Lorex Cloud Client for Mac
How to Open the Downloaded File:
- On Windows: Locate the
.exe
file in your Downloads folder, double-click it, and follow the installation prompts. - On Mac: Locate the
.pkg
file in your Downloads folder, double-click it, and follow the installation wizard to complete setup.




Step 2: Launch the Application
After installation:
- Open the Lorex Cloud Client application on your desktop.
- If prompted, allow any necessary firewall permissions to enable full functionality.
Set Admin Password: You’ll be asked to create an admin password for the application. Enter and confirm a secure password of your choice.

Password Protection: Next, you’ll be prompted to answer three security questions. These will be used for password recovery if needed.

Once the initialization is complete, you will be taken to the main login screen. Enter your credentials to access the application.

Step 3: Add Your DVR System
1. Choose Add or + to insert a new device.

2. Enter the Device Name (your choice), Device ID or IP address, Client Port, Username, and Password provided with your DVR. Your tech can provide you with all of that information.
3. Click Save or OK to complete the process.

Device Management – Devices Tab Overview
Once a DVR or NVR has been successfully added to the Lorex Cloud Client, you can view and manage it under the Devices tab.

- Green Dot + “Online” status means the system is actively connected and ready to stream.

Buttons at the Top:

Auto Search: Scans your local network for Lorex devices.

+ Add: Manually add a DVR/NVR using its UID or IP address.

Delete: Remove a selected device from your system.
-
Import/Export: Save or load a device list, helpful for setups with multiple computers.

Edit / Settings / Trash Icons (Right Side):

Pencil icon: Edit device details or login credentials.

Gear icon: Configure advanced settings for the device.
-
Trash icon: Remove the device from the client.

Live View Overview
This screen is the Live View interface, where you can monitor real-time footage from all connected DVR/NVR camera systems.

Left Sidebar – Camera Organization
- Organizations & Groups: Lists DVRs/NVRs and camera groups, organized by site or function (e.g., “DVR 1 – West Campus”).

Click on a device name to expand it and view all cameras connected to that DVR or NVR.

You can also click the arrow to collapse or expand groups as needed

Camera Labels (e.g., CRC 1, IOP 2): Each line represents an individual camera feed.
-
✅ Green icons mean the camera is online. ❌ Red means it’s offline or disconnected.
-
To view a feed, double-click on an individual camera, or double-click the entire device to load all available cameras from that system into the main view.

Main Grid – Live Camera Feeds

This area shows your currently active live video feeds.
-
You can drag cameras from the left panel into the grid to display them.
-
Click a feed once to focus it; double-click it to expand to full screen.

Page Controls (Bottom Center)

Displays your current page of live feeds (e.g., 1/5).

Use the arrows to scroll through additional camera grids when you have more than one screen’s worth of feeds.

Bottom Right Toolbar
- View Options: Use the icons in the bottom right corner to change how many cameras display on the screen at once. Options typically include:

1×1 – one camera fullscreen
-
2×2 – four cameras
-
3×3 – nine cameras
-
4×4 – sixteen cameras
-
- Click the layout that best fits your monitoring needs. This is helpful when focusing on fewer or more cameras depending on the situation.
- Snapshot/Record: If supported by your system, you’ll see icons appear while hovering over a live camera feed. Use these to:

Take a snapshot (still image)
-
Begin or stop manual recording from that camera

PTZ Controls (Pan-Tilt-Zoom)
If your camera supports PTZ functionality, you’ll be able to control it using the PTZ panel shown below.
How to use the PTZ panel:

Directional Pad (Center):
Use the arrow buttons to move the camera up, down, left, or right. -
Zoom In/Out:
Tap the magnifying glass with a “+” to zoom in, and the magnifying glass with a “−” to zoom out. -
Focus / Iris Controls:
The circular icons adjust focus and light exposure (only if supported by your camera model). -
Step Slider:
Adjust the movement sensitivity or speed of the camera when using PTZ controls. -
More Functions (dropdown):
Clicking this reveals additional features, such as:-
Preset positions (save and jump to specific views)

Auto scan or tours (automatically rotate between angles)
